Exterior Painting Process

Residential and Light Commercial Exterior Painting

When it comes to protecting your home or business, exterior painting is one of the most important things you need next to the type of siding, windows, and thoroughly sealing off weather prone areas around doors and windows. This is because when your paint fails, every thing else follows. In the end, not only is paint one of the most important parts of keeping your home protected, but also it's the cheapest. Painting also is a way to make your house take a whole new look, just like a makeup artist drastically changes the way a person looks, your home or business's look and appeal drastically changes by having a professional do the painting. How beautiful do you want you home to look?

Here are some many benefits of having Custom Brush Company paint your exterior:

Our Exterior Painting Process

Washing

  • According to your proposal, areas to be painted are either power washed or hand washed to remove dirt, mildew, and loose & peeling paint.

Surface Preparation

  • Heavy canvas drops are used to protect the ground far out over all areas we are preparing and painting.
  • Light sheets and drops are used on all your plants and delicate items.
  • All loose & peeling paint is gently and safley removed.
  • According to your proposal, areas where paint has been removed are sanded to be either flush-smooth, semi-smooth, or semi-rough. In rare cases and at your request only, we don't sand after paint removal.
  • According to your proposal, the right kind of primer is applied over all bare wood or entire walls at a time.
  • Masking is used on your windows, doors, and other areas not to be painted.

Painting

  • As per your proposal, 2 thick & even coats are applied using one of our application techniques listed below. In rare cases do we apply 1 coat only.
  • Our most common and favored application method is to use an airless sprayer to apply the paint, then a brush to "back-brush" every corner and all siding that's horizontal, and a roller to "back-roll" all siding that's vertical. We do this on the first coat over every square inch, then on the second coat, we spray only. Note - Once all siding is back applied on the first coat, every pore, nook, and cranny over your entire siding is sealed very well. If we were to back-brush or back-roll the second coat, we would actually take paint off, thinning down the overall thickness of the paint. In the end, our unique painting process is superior to brush and roll only jobs and substanially less expensive due to labor time being cut significantly. Also know that when painters say they will "back-roll" after they paint, that's all they do, it is very rare to find painters that "back-brush" every surface that cannot be filled in by a roller.
  • Our other application method we use is only at your request to bring the total job cost down. Here we spray-only on all surfaces, back-brushing only over to fill cracks and at hard ro reach corners. Expect this application method to only last 3-5 years. All new-construction and most residential painters use this method by the way.

Clean-up

  • Clean up is done daily, thoroughly, and completely upon job completion.
  • We strive for a no-trace paint job.

Final Walk Around Inspection

  • Once we have completed our own inspection, you have the opportunity to inspect the work for yourself.
